Ghazal, slow and unhurried, for the end of the evening.
A ghazal asks for time, so this station gives it. Sukh Ghazals runs long: full length renditions, the couplet repeated because somebody in the room asked for it, harmonium and sarangi close to the microphone, tabla kept soft. This is a station built on one form rather than one language, so the ghazal in Punjabi and Persian sits here beside the Urdu repertoire, while Urdu across everything else, playback, pop and the spoken word, is Sukh Urdu's day. The gatherings this station carries are ghazal mehfils and nothing else: qawwali at concert length belongs to Sukh Indie and Sufi, and the qawwali written for the screen belongs to Sukh Urdu. There is no breakfast show here, and that is the point.
